Ingredients: 

 

(Abbreviations: C = cup, tsp. = teaspoon, T= tablespoon, lb = pound, oz.= ounces, pkg = package, pt. = pint, qt. = quart)

 

  • 1/2 lb Alpine Fresh Asparagus, trimmed and cut diagonally into 1 1/2-inch pieces

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • 8 oz of Sliced Ham (Smoked or Sweet)

  • 1 small onion, cut into thin wedges

  • 1 1/2 cup marinara or tomato sauce
    1 teaspoon cornmeal

  • 1 13 oz package refrigerated pizza dough

  • 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded (6 ounces) 

  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Ham & Asparagus Pizza

Directions:

 

  1. Preheat oven to 425 Degrees F. 

  2. Wash and trim asparagus. Cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces. 

  3.  2 tablespoons of olive oil and 3 tablespoons of water in skillet over medium heat. Add onion and asparagus.

  4. Saute vegetable for about 4 minutes for a light saute.

  5. Grease a 12- or 13-inch pizza pan. Sprinkle with cornmeal.

  6. Pat pizza dough into pan, rounding corners of dough and building up edges.

  7. Spoon marinara sauce onto dough. Spreading in a circular motion.

  8. Spinkle shreaded mozzarella cheese onto dough and marinara sauce. Leave about a third of the cheese to sprinkle over the ham.

  9. Lay sliced ham on the dough and spinkle remiaing cheese over the ham.

  10. Spread sliced asparagus spears and onions over pizza.

  11. Salt and Pepper to taste. Drizzles the remaining olive oil over  the pizza. 

  12. Bake about 15 minutes or until lightly browned. (Depends on dough used)

  13. Let the pizza cool, slice, and serve.

TIP: Pizza dough is often sold in the bakery section of the grocery store. Ask the baker behind the counter for help. It can also be found in the frozen sections. If so, defrost dough prior to begining.

IDEA: Adding some fresh basil or italian herbs can really brighten up your pizza while adding a ton of flavor.
